Salaam Aleikum! Welcome to the ‘Eid Ul Fitr Weekend. This is a special time when Muslims stop their fast with a celebration. So much food, drinks, and fun. Are you a fan of Swahili Cuisine? Are you curious about Swahili dishes? Are you the kind that loves to join religious celebrations? Are you planning a holiday during this long Ramadhan Weekend?

Come Travel Kenya, got you with a lineup of interesting activities that you can engage in during this period.

There are a number of fun and fulfilling activities you can do when visiting Kenya at this time. The most thrilling is up for grabs below!

  1. Tours of kindness

This is usually a period of kindness. After fasting, the Muslims set aside food that should be shared by those who are not lucky enough to get food. Many people, especially street families, benefit from this. What can beat the exhilarating feeling of knowing you touched someone with something basic, like food?

It is easy to step in when you are touring big cities like Nairobi, Mombasa, Kisumu, and Nakuru. Here you can get in touch with the lead Sheikhs in various mosques to see how you can contribute towards ensuring that even the less privileged get to have a great ‘Eid Ul Fitr

Are you going to add something to the free food stands or you will be sampling the free food?

  1. Family Tours

eid al fitr

This is normally family time. You can opt to join a Kenyan Muslim family this weekend to celebrate Eid Ul Fitir with them. This will give you a clear picture of what Eid in Kenya is all about from that level. Come Travel Kenya can always arrange this.

By experiencing it firsthand, you could help kill some stereotypes that surround this season.

  1. Behold the Famous Jamia Mosque

Jamia Mosque is one of Kenya’s most famous places and tourist attraction sites. It is not only a historical site with a profound narrative but it is the main Mosque in Nairobi City. It is Massive! Architecture is out of this world. If I could get an opportunity to just take a photo here, I would be elated, even though I am not a Muslim. You might want to check in during the ‘Eid period. I am sure there will be throngs of faithful Muslims here on Sunday and Monday.

  1. ‘Eid Safaris

Many tour operators are giving discounts for ‘Eid Safaris now. Come Travel Kenya, in joining our Muslim brothers and sisters, also have such offers. Check out our home page and pick a Safari that will see you remember this festive period for the rest of your life. Let’s do a hot air balloon Ride across the Masaai Mara, visit the intimate Ol Pejeta or even the not-so-famous Saiwo National Reserve. Sleeping in a tree house isn’t so bad this weekend.

  1. ‘Eid Hikes

eid al fitr

Going for a hike after lots of eating will be a good idea. You will cut the calories. If you are a Muslim, you have been fasting for tens of days and sudden fill-ups might upset your stomach. Be on the move.

Take a trip to Samburu and hike on Sacred Mountain. Also, Mount Kenya has always been an amazing hiking place especially now that it is sunny and most of the glacier lakes up there are melted. It is going to be a long weekend, Let’s hike!

  1. ‘Eid Ul Fitr Road Trips

This is the ultimate tour activity in any country. Road trips! Come Travel Kenya has the most comfortable vehicles that can run on all roads of this country. Is it the Great Rift Road trip? The City to City road trip or the Countryside Road Trip? The Great Rift road trip is always my number one. The physical features, the landscapes, the winding roads, did I mention the lakes? Have you been to Lake Turkana?

Let us hit the road this ‘Eid.

  1. Kenyan Coastal Tour

eid

All roads and flights should be headed to the Coast during this season of ‘Eid. The coast is the capital of Islam. The Swahili culture, dishes, ‘Eid special offers, hotels name it. You will have a blast in Lamu and Malindi at this time. And… guess what? Come Travel Kenya can always go the extra mile to add spice to your trip by adding Zanzibar Islands and Pemba to the package.

All this fun is just an email or phone call away. Be sure to contact Come Travel Kenya to arrange your ‘Eid.

So, where are you going to spend your ‘Eid this weekend all the way to Monday? At Jamia Mosque or at Coastal Kenya?

‘Eid Mubarak from Come Travel Kenya
