Watching water flow up a hill is a wonder to behold. All you need to do is ask Come Travel Kenya Limited for a Road Trip, from Nairobi City to Machakos County. Machakos County is amongst the counties that are close to Nairobi.

This implies that you can tour both Nairobi and Machakos County, with a good travel itinerary. You know the perfect travel company for perfect itineraries already, right? Let us delve right into Machakos County:

Kyamwilu Magical Corner

Gravity

You read that right, Kyamwilu is a magical place. It is hilly, scenic and filled with mystery. Here, nature defies gravity. It is like a slice of the Bermuda Triangle, only this one is the opposite.

Things do not get sucked into a dark hole, they go up a hill. Try pouring water and you will see it flow upwards. Nothing seems to hit the ground here. The hill has been here for ages and it stands defying gravity.

Come camping with loved ones on the hill and marvel at the wonder of Kyamwilu. If a hill is too small a wonder for you, Machakos County offers…

Mount Kilimambogo

mt kilimambogo

You are also known as the Ol Donyo Sabuk – the mountain of Buffalos. This is the home of all buffalos in Kenya. Do you love the majesty of this wild cow? You will have to take a hike on Mt. Kilimambogo, go through the thick montane forest and spot the buffalos, bushbucks, baboons, porcupines and several exotic species of birds.

At the summit, you will enjoy a scenic view of Machakos County. Ol Donyo is 3 Kilometers away from the famous 14 falls. You will enjoy listening to the lull of the falling water, camping at Turacco, Rock Hyrax or Summit Campsite.

Lukenya Hills and Caves:

lukenya

One of the earliest human fossils was found in the Lukenya Caves, by renowned archaeologists, Mary and Louis Leaky. Historians will enjoy this tour. The caves are laced with mystery and history.

The Mau Mau used the caves as hideouts during the colonial period. Bring hiking boots and comfortable clothing.  When it gets too hot, you can cool off in a pool, at Lukenya Motocross, 45 minutes away from Nairobi when the weather gets too hot.

Maanzoni Sanctuary

maanzoni

This sits on a 10,000-acre piece of land, vast, full of animals and astonishing flora. Maanzoni Lodge is an amazing place to unwind.

We are talking Zebras, giraffes, elands, gazelles, wildebeests, and ostriches. The Lodge organizes trails for visitors to take in the stunning landscape and fresh air of the sanctuary.

Lord Macmillan’s Castle

macmillan

September 1904 marked the arrival of the famous explorer, Lord Macmillan in Kenya. He fell in love with Nairobi and its environs, abandoning his hunting spree where he constructed a magnificent 32-room single-story castle with underground bunkers.

In this castle, former US president Theodore Roosevelt, and former British Prime Minister Sir Winston Churchill have stayed here. The Castel is a magnificent work of architecture.

However, the bird lovers can start at

Iveti Forest.

Iveti forest

Iveti is the most scenic place in Machakos County. The Cedar Trees, look like they were pulled out of an epic movie.

The birdlife here is beyond what you have ever seen. People come here to hike, take nature walks, find inspiration, or spend time alone immersed in nature.

You must go to Machakos County for three main reasons:

  1. It is a few minutes drive from Nairobi
  2. The dominant tribe- the Akamba people are full of life and fun
  3. You will be to places that will leave you awed.
  4. As a bonus, you can go golfing, go-karting and enjoy relaxing in a beautiful people’s park.

Come Travel Kenya- Machakos County awaits.

Rains make Kenyan Parks beautiful. It is not always flooding. The Flora and Fauna, during the rainy season blossom and flourish. Rain means enough food for Savannah browsers and a lot of hunting for the big cats.

The rainy season has been marked with flooding but that does not mean that you cannot visit Kenya. A huge chunk of Kenya is beautiful and thriving at the moment. Besides:

  • There are less crowds in most of the beautiful places
  • You can cross off the bucket list, ‘Kissing in the rain.
  • There are plenty of places that are cool and serene.

Here are a few tips on how to maximize your vacation in Kenya during this rainy season:

Pack Appropriately

suit cases

Fill your suitcases with quick-to-dry garments, anti-slip rubber shoes and hiking boots, raincoats, an umbrella, waterproof camera covers, and a few blankets in case it gets very chilly.

A power bank will come in handy in this season because of the erratic power outages and an extra battery for your camera will save you from missing out on the great photos when the rains keep you out for long. I should have started with…

Have an experienced Travel Agency take care of your stay during the rainy season.

travel agency

You can enjoy your stay with peace of mind knowing a local who knows exactly the safest and most fun places to visit is planning your travel itinerary. Need I say Come Travel Kenya Limited is the best Travel Agency and we have sampled out places that are safe for you already.

Keep in touch with your travel agency all the time, especially when you are out camping or hiking. A good travel agency will advise you to…

Check out the Parks

maasai mara

Plan your Safari around the rain. Mornings are warm and sunny and the parks are lush and beautiful. Flowers are blossoming and butterflies are dancing on the dewy leaves. The parks are extremely picturesque.

However, you have to be flexible with your time. usually, the rains don’t pour until the afternoon, so having breakfast in the morning sun is not only good for your skin but also gives you a chance to cuddle with your loved one later in the evening, when the rain pellets start marching. Cuddling cannot happen unless…

You book a luxurious lodge

lodge

Be very careful with where you sleep during the rainy season. Still, an experienced travel agent will advise you here. You need to sleep in a warm and safe place, with great hospitality services.

You will need superb hospitality, awesome cuisines and a fireplace. These can be found in selected hotels and lodges that only your travel agent can advise. Hygiene is also very important at this time of the year.

Check the Weather Forecasts

Before stepping out, ensure you check the local weather forecast. That way, you will step out when prepared for any eventualities.

Always keep an open mind because the weather can change at any time. Be flexible to change schedules and you will enjoy the most.

Have you thought of cultural visits?

cultural

These are mostly quiet and indoors in museums. You may miss out on the dancing and song but in Bomas of Kenya, you can have it all. The City Culture is also a welcome idea during this time. You won’t get rained on, while having dinner in a beautiful hotel on Two Rivers Mall, will you?

Let not the rains dull your spirit about visiting Kenya. Kenya is still beautiful and you can enjoy indoor activities despite the rain. You can choose to go bowling. Alternatively, you can book now for future vacations. The Wildebeest Migration is coming up in October and it will be epic!

Keyaa toi Ikanaabo! That is how you say ‘What’s Up People!’ in Maasai. Narok County is the home of the Maasai People of Kenya – The famous indigenous tribe of Kenya.  Narok County is simply stunning. It is endowed with striking sceneries, biodiversity and a picturesque landscape.

The vast pieces of land give the Countryside aura and if you are looking for fresh country air, then Come Travel Kenya Limited has lined up 5 places you can visit in Narok County. Let us begin with:

Mount Suswa Conservancy

Mount Suswa conservancy

I know we should have started with the Maasai Mara but Mount Suswa is a spectacular piece of creation. The double crater mountain is a must-go place in Narok County.  Game drives, especially night drives on Suswa are the best. Suswa offers a variety of fauna and Flora, and the wildlife here is dense. Hiking on Mount Suswa is also beyond this world. Here are a few tips on how to enjoy Mount Suswa:

  1. Bring the right gear – boots, t-shirts, jungle pants, raincoats.
  2. Bring a camera and a telescope – you will see beautiful scenery. You will need to carry the memories home and see the details.
  3. A first aid kit – Many things happen during hiking. Rocks can be slippery. Better be safe
  4. Hiking is perfect when it is not raining – June through to October will be perfect for you.
  5. Carry a torch – Mount Suswa has caves that should be explored. Elephant caves are awesome.
  6. Camping Gear – if you are spontaneous, you may choose to camp for a night or two. This is a perfect place.

The Maasai Mara

elephants

The wildebeest migration is almost here. We have a few Months to October and this is the perfect time to start planning your Maasi Mara Safari, in Narok County. When you visit the Maasai Mara you will enjoy:

  1. Staying in luxurious lodges and the most scenic camping sites

Narok Museum

This is an explosion of culture and indigenous fusion. The Maasai are one of the few indigenous tribes of Kenya, which is doing everything to preserve their originality. You will get to interact with their:

  1. Ways of preparing the Maasai traditional cuisines
  2. Beadwork
  3. Rituals
  4. Cultural songs and dance
  5. Cultural dressing
  6. Arrow throwing
  7. Jumping

The Narok Museum offers amazing cultural experiences. However, you can have it better at…

Maji Moto Maasai Cultural Camp

suswa

This is a private cultural camp, led by Chief Selatun Ole Ntutu. He is a respected personality in the Maa culture and you will be thrilled to meet him in person. The cultural camp offers a variety of experiences including organised traditional dances, storytelling sessions, beadwork, and arrow throwing amongst other fun activities.

The camp is on top of a hill and going up the hill is equivalent to going on a quest. You will get true inspiration here. This cultural safari is worth it.

The Mara Savannah Maasai Market

Here, you will have an explosion of cultural exchange as well. You get to buy artistic souvenirs to take back home. The money you spend here supports families and goes back to the conservancy.  you will have fun learning and you will get a chance to give back to society – quite a win.

As a bonus, I will suggest that you camp at

The Mara Triangle.

Mount Suswa conservancy

The Mara triangle is where the exotic experience of Masai Mara is stored. The scenery alone will knock the breath out of your lungs. An aerial view of the Mara Triangle has always been an exhilarating experience.  Camp here and you will have a story to take back home.

In a nutshell, Narok County is the place to come and unwind. It is a breath of fresh air. It offers rest from the town chaos and gives you serenity and wild adventures that you will never forget. And I did not mention, the Mau Forest – this is the height of mystery and jungle experience in Narok County. So, what do say? Should arrange a trip to Narok County or you will wait for the Lush Kericho County Coming up?

A City Tour – In Nairobi

nairobi

Spending Mother’s Day in Nairobi. Let me suggest a few things you can do for a day, two or more days of celebrating motherhood. After all, Mother’s Day is only once a year.

  1. Book yourself or your Mom in an exotic, luxurious hotel
  2. Step out for a specialized dinner – let’s say Italian or Ethiopian cuisine.
  3. Check out some gaming joints and do some bowling for a few hours.
  4. Spend the better part of the night enjoying live bands, jazz or clubbing. Alternatively, …
  5. You can start in the Nairobi National Park for an experience in the wild.
  6. Have a lunch picnic
  7. Spend some time in a spa… (there are all types of Spas in Nairobi.)
  8. The best Golf Clubs are in Nairobi – grab a stick and hit balls with other mothers.

Should none of the above interest your Mom senses, then you are most likely a lover of serenity and art. You can, therefore…

Enjoy visiting Galleries to buy art pieces.

media gallery

One way of showing a mother that they are special is through art. Art has a way of touching the deepest parts of the human soul. You may want to check out the following galleries in Nairobi City and spend time interacting with art before stopping for a cup of coffee in an exotic coffee shop.

  1. African Heritage House Museum
  2. Nairobi Gallery
  3. Karen Village
  4. Banana Gallery
  5. One-off Contemporary Gallery

There is depth in art that only a lover of art can understand. You are this kind of Mom or your Mom is one of them, 2024 Mothers’ Day is the day you explore that artsy side. And Finally, …

Burn Rubber across Kenya’s Great Rift Valley

road trip

Take the road not taken and enjoy the picturesque landscapes of Kenya. A planned Road Trip across the Great Rift Valley has always been an epic experience. Kenya is vast and beautiful, you cannot have enough of it. The roads are endless and the people you will meet along the road will make you appreciate humanity. Kenyans are hospitable.

The lush green, the hills that spill into each other, the lakes and the entire countryside of Kenya will leave you reenergized for the rest of the year. What do you say to visit a castle at Nanyuki at the end of the day to remind yourself that there is a queen inside you despite the sweet chaos of motherhood?

For the 2024 Mother’s Day, I want a quiet full Breakfast, binging on travel Magazines, in a luxurious hotel in a private park like Ol Pejeta. What about you?

Hello art enthusiast! Have you seen it all in art and design and you feel like you need something different? Maybe you have enjoyed safaris in the wild and now you want something quiet and thoughtful in a beautiful place. The Nairobi Gallery is the best breather from the city’s excitement.

The Nairobi Gallery is located conveniently in the Nairobi Central Business District, on Kenyatta Avenue and Uhuru Highway Roundabout next to Nyayo House.

The Nairobi Gallery is an intriguing place because it is significant in Kenyan History and has been in existence since the Colonial times.

A trip in the past of Nairobi Gallery: It was built in 1913 as a Native Ministry. Settlers used to call it the “The Hatches, Matches and Dispatches” as a result of the many births and deaths that were recorded in this building. Later, it served as the courtroom for Natives who came to Nairobi without a pass.

So, how did a courthouse change to an art Gallery?

nairobi gallery

This happened when The Vice President of Kenya of 1966 – Joseph Murumbi and his Wife, bought the building. They were art enthusiasts who wanted to preserve, protect and promote African Art and Culture in all its forms.

The first exhibition name Dreaming Pictures was conducted by Jakkatari Kawe. This was right after independence and the artists at this time, mostly the pioneer ones like Magdalene Odondo, ExpenditoMwembe Kibala and Geraldine Roberts were displayed here.

The Nairobi Gallery was handed over to the Kenya Museums because of its richness and value in African Art and History. Here is why this Gallery is the best place for Art Enthusiasts in Nairobi:

  1. It is located at Kenya’s Point Zero – there is a black spot in the building which is the starting point of all distances measured from Nairobi to the rest of the Country and Africa. At Point, it is believed to be the centre of Kenya.
  2. The architectural Design of the Nairobi Gallery is epic – let us talk about columns of natural stone, niches, friezes, and pediments. The doors are made of teak. The Gallery is an original Victorian design that is rare. In there, there are colonial safes that have never been opened since independence. One can’t help but wonder what is in there!
  3. The Murumbi African Heritage Collection – this should be the number one attraction point. The collection here ranges from original African Art to textiles from across Africa, stone tablets and books, jewellery and artefacts are here. Check out what is in various rooms further below.
  4. The Murumbis Pan African Stamp Collection – it is said that is second only to the collection by the Late Queen of England.
  5. There is a gift shop – You get to buy a souvenir to take back home.

nairobi gallery

Take a peek at what is in various rooms as you plan your visit to the Nairobi Gallery:

  1. Room 1 – you get to see the sample stamps collected by His and Her Excellency the Late Joseph and Sheila Murumbi. Have you seen Queen Elizabeth’s collection already? It is time to see Murumbi’s collection.
  2. Room 2 – this is full of textile displays from all over Africa. We are talking about Kanga, Kikoi, Kente, Ankara and Okene. Designers interested in African Textiles will have a blast in this room.

There are various clothes worn by African Kings and Queens from various kingdoms with elaborate stories around every attire. Come Travel Kenya Limited will organize a trip of Culture here and at the Bomas of Kenya as well if this is your niche.

  1. Room 3 – This is a display of the Vice president’s Living Room in his Muthaiga Home. There is also a collection of various African furniture from the past. A lot of African Art has been displayed on the walls and along the corridors, you will be absorbed in the profound art.
  2. Room 4 – This is a room full of African Weaponry, Artefacts, and utensils. Did you know Africans made dolls and figurines before colonialism?

The Nairobi Gallery is usually open to the public from 8.30 am and closes at 5.30 pm. The rates for locals, residents and non-residents are affordable and you have the freedom to take as much time as possible in the gallery, taking in every single story.

The Nairobi Gallery is a perfect place to bring children for lessons in history and art as well. It is safe and there are professionals to take you around the rooms, giving you the special stories on every piece of art, artefact, textile and stamp that you will be interested in.

You may need hours in the gallery to exhaustively take in the immense stories inspired by every piece.

Check out the coolest, serene places in Nairobi City where you can have fun for less than $5 in the next article.

A lazy afternoon, fizzling drinks and dripping Kenyan Cuisines will make your Kenyan City Safari memorable. If you add bowling, foosball and pool in a colourful place, your day will be perfect. If you are travelling with your family, especially children, the number one bowling joints in the city will be:

The Village Bowl

bowling

This is at Village Market, along Limuru Road, on the second floor of New Wing. The Village Market is an all-in-one-stop place in matters of food, drinks and fun.  Before getting in for a game or two, you can stop by the nicely stocked curio shops and pick a souvenir of a Moran wooden or stone carving. Or still, you can pack Crispy Samosas for the kids if not a variety of street cuisines.

The Village Bowl is the most recently set up bowling joint in the city, therefore it is modern and exotic. It is an eleven-lane Brunswick Bowling Facility, which is perfect for sports parties and leisure. I am talking latest pool tables, air hockey pitch, foosball pitch and live playing bands.

It is the best place to bring the entire family. Depending on the day of the week, a game goes for between Ksh.300 to Ksh.500 per person.

The Nairobi Club

bowling

We don’t just come here to play golf. There is something close to outdoor bowling here and that’s what makes Nairobi Country Club an epic place for bowling.  Aside: this club was opened in 1901.

The club is a private membership exclusive, sitting on a vast piece of land, serene and extremely classy. If malls suffocate you or maybe you are megalophobic, then Country Club Bowling will do you good.

Here bowling is different: you will be rolling a biased ball that will have to stop close to a smaller white ball called a jack. It is easy to learn and fun to play. Bring your kids along and enjoy the countryside appeal of Upperhill, along Ngong Road. You can play golf afterwards, and enjoy a nice meal and exotic drinks. Later, you can take a hike on The Ngong Hills.

Green bowling will cost you Ksh.2000 per month or Ksh.150 for members and Ksh.200 for guests per game.

However, if you are tired of the outdoors and you just want color, good music, and being indoors…

Strikes – Westgate Mall

It could be the place you are looking for. Strikes bowling base is normally open from 10.00 am to 8.00 pm on all days of the week. A lazy afternoon or cool evening could be spent here. It has a ten-lane bowling alley, several pool tables, a foosball pitch and air hockey. You can also enjoy full restaurant and bar services. The cocktails at strikes, will blow your mind. They also have a resident DJ and you can ask for the hits you like as you bowl.

A game goes for Ksh.500 or Ksh. 300 depending on the day of the week and time.

The Maasai Mara – The Three in One Choice

Horse riding

  1. 7 Days Ride

It is hard to sum up the magic of a horse safari in the Masai Mara or to capture its energy and wonder –but we can say that this ride will leave you addicted! I am talking about exhilarating riding, professional guides, wildlife encounters that will take your breath away and an authentic bush experience, with the backdrop of one of Africa’s most iconic landscapes – the endless and beautiful savannah.

You will encounter elephants, buffalos, giraffes and often big cats like lions and cheetahs on horseback. And when the migration arrives, it gives you the once-in-a-lifetime experience of cantering alongside herds of wildebeest and zebra, as you navigate the Mara with a mobile tented camp in convoy.

Led by a private and expert guide you will spend 8 days exploring this beautiful part of the world, moving camp four times, with the help of a team who will set out ahead of you and have the next camp set up and a cold beverage waiting on arrival.

The evening campfires are epic. This ride covers over 250km of the Masai Mara spending up to 7 hours in the saddle each day. Remember to come riding fit as this incredible landscape offers long exhilarating canters. I call it the road to the bliss of freedom in the wilderness

  1. 2 bush days at Lerai Safari Camp

This is more like the 7-day one, only shorter. You will have two-night camps of your lifetime after riding a better part of the day. You will also enjoy bush walks and game drives at some point. This is usually the best couple’s getaway.

  1. Horseback and Drives Combo on Oloololo Escarpment for hours

The Landscapes at Oloololo Escarpment are the kind that you only read about in books. This is the best for those who are trying out a Horseback Safari for the first time. Families can also take up this one because you stop after a while and go on game drives to rest from the saddle.

4. Ol Pejeta Safari Cottages

Horse riding

The Ol Pejeta Stables has two English-trained horses. The conservancy sits on over 600 acres of land and it is bubbling with fauna and flora. Horse riding at Ol Pejeta is the safest in Kenya since they only recommend Novice Riders. They also have put in place safety measures for both the Horse and Rider.

If you are looking for an intimate horseback safari, Ol Pejeta is the place to be.

5. Beach on a Horseback Experience

Horse riding

Kinondo Kwetu is a place like no other. I once heard a rider confess that he had ridden in all kinds of places: in the Savanah, in Maasai Maria, in Laikipia and on the Mountains, but riding on the beach is the best experience. He said it is better than flying especially when you swim with the horse.

Horses are natural swimmers and the ones of Kinondo Kwetu are exceptional. They are three horses, two boar-pends from South Africa and one Pure Bred. The Horses are English trained, Bomb proof and gentle even to non-novice riders.

The Kindondo Kwetu Hotel is owned by a Swedish Couple and is the epitome of hospitality and luxury on Diani Beach. The area is undeveloped, therefore quite serene and virgin for exploration. You can go for rides in the sacred kaya forest, along the white sandy beach or on the lash paddocks of the hotel. Rides are best in the morning or late evenings when it is not so hot, and you can catch the sunset dipping in the ocean.

Besides horse riding, you can enjoy kite surfing, boat rides, and a game drive to Shimba Hills Game Reserve. Later in the evening, you can join other guests for a tennis game.

6. Sosian Horseback Safari – Laikipia

Horse riding

Laikipia is the most scenic County, if you should ask me. The scenery is extremely calming and captivating. The countryside effect, the green and the hills that roll endlessly will leave you riding into eternity.

The Sosian adds total privacy, traversing through Rivers Ewaso Nyiro and Ewaso Narok, chasing after Hippos, elephants, buffalos, giraffes and Zebras.

Later, you can set up camp and enjoy dinner under a starry sky.

7, 8, 9 and 10 – Nairobi Horseback Havens

Horse riding

  1. Hardy Stud

The serenity and the vastness of Paddocks at Hardy is the best thing about this place. It is located in Karen and sits on a 10-acre piece of Land. There is a qualified trainer for first-timers and both adults and children get to go on a horseback excursion. This is a slice of cowboy haven in the city.

  1. New Muthaiga Horse Riding Stables

Define class and luxury on a horse – the answer is the New Mutahiga Horse Riding Stables. This is a perfect place for both adults and children. You will enjoy rides in the Sigiria Forest, and your children will be kept busy with lovely pets including chicken and rabbits. Muthaiga Stables are located at Manga Gardens, Off Kiwera Road in kitusuru.

  1. Xina Horse Riding School and Stables

The Highlight after a ride is usually the cuisine at The Xina Restaurant. Xina Horse Riding School and Stables is a haven for children. If you are on vacation with your children and they are lovers of horses and riding, you must bring them here.

They will be:

  • Trained to ride
  • Taught saddling and horse care
  • They will be accompanied by a certified rider as you enjoy your riding
  • They will enjoy a nice chef-ordered meal afterwards.

Xina is away from the City thus, the serenity and peace while riding.

  1. Achi’s Ranch and Horse-Riding Club

Achi’s is only 1.5 km from Bomas of Kenya, which means after a cultural experience at Bomas, you can drive in and enjoy a serene horseback ride. This includes an excursion to Achi’s ranch and a ride through the Ngong Forest. A total break from the chaos of the City.

Horseback Safaris are the latest thrills in Kenya. You don’t want to miss chasing the Wildebeests and Zebras during the Migration on horseback. It is not only for the amazing pictures you will carry home but also for the experience that you will never forget. Talk to Come Travel Kenya Limited for a travel Horseback Itinerary that will suit you perfectly.

Hello, speed and adrenaline junkies. Are you wondering what else to do after going for safari drives in Nairobi National Park? Do you enjoy outdoor activities yet you don’t know exactly what to do? Are you visiting Nairobi for the first time and you are probably wondering what to do next? Go-karting is one of the most enjoyed activities in Nairobi City.

Come Travel Kenya Limited has outlined below the best places you can Go Karting in the City and some that are a few Kilometers away from the City. They are professionally laid out, safe, child-friendly, and affordable. if you are not bowling or golfing, then Go karting at:

  1. MadMax Karting Two Rivers Mall

carting

Two Rivers Mall is the biggest in East and Central Africa. It is a one-stop place for everything fancy and luxurious in Nairobi. If you are a first-timer in the city, besides Go Karting, you can handle all your business at Two Rivers Mall. At MadMax, there is a 400-meter-long racing lane, 8 Meters wide. Here there are the fanciest, well-maintained cars, with guaranteed safety as a racer and generally. You will enjoy biting and snacks on the same building and window-shop after racing.

Adults pay Ksh.3000 for 10 minutes and Ksh.5000 for 20 minutes. This is also a haven for children and their rates are way lower, with a blast of other merry activities for the kids on the mall.

  1. Whistling Moran’s, Athi River

Go carting

Athi River is in Machakos County about an hour’s drive from Nairobi City. The Whistling Moran is Second on the list because it has the largest racing lanes in the whole of Africa. It is away from the City with topnotch private facilities and the most scenic landscapes you will ever see in the Karting world. The tracks are 8 meters wide. You get to enjoy the double-engine Karts if you are a speed maniac and a slopping kind of track that gives the elevated illusion. Since it is tucked away in the Machakos, about 4 kilometers off the main road on a rough drive, your travel agent should particularly arrange your transport. Come Travel Kenya is best at ensuring that you get to enjoy your outdoor activities without hiccups.

Should we be heading to Machakos after the Safari around the City to cool off or we check out…

  1. The TGRV Circuit at Maai Mahiu First?

A whooping 1.2-kilometer long track awaits you and your adrenaline. The Best bit of racing here, is you get to enjoy amazing landscapes and the Great Rift Valley from the racing angle a spectacular sight.

Here you have options of going for 10 minutes, 15 minutes, and 30 minutes priced at Ksh.2800, Ksh. 3500 and Ksh.6000 respectively. There is room for group racing when prior arrangements are done. However, if you are out with friends and wish to compete then the best place would be…

  1. The Redhill Karting

carting

This is off Limuru Road, less than 30 30-minute drive from Nairobi City. You get to enjoy full bar and restaurant facilities and a private dome for your extended fun. This place is surprisingly serene and since it is off the City’s chaos, besides the hum of engines and screeching of tires, your friends will enjoy racing here. If they are a wild lot, then you can check out the …

  1. GP Karting Langata

This is usually a bit crowded because it is the most affordable in the city. It is right after Carnivore so you can always check in after a wild safari drive in the National Park. Here you can race day and there are floodlights for night racing.  There are usually enough cars for group racing and you get to enjoy 10 warm-ups, 10 qualifying rounds, 10 Semi Final Laps, and 5 final laps for Ksh.2500 per person for 8 to 10 persons. The tracks are standard and the cars are perfectly maintained. You will be safe chasing after or being chased by friends here.

  1. The Thunder Karts High Octane Racing

carting

The names tell you everything. This is a place of pure speed bliss. It is located near Mang’u Boys and it has relatively new Go-Karts. This is a perfect place to bring family since they have family packages and they have Karting Supervisors for kids. You might want to race down your 9-year-old and see if he or she can beat you. Did you know that Karting is the best entry point for Formula 1 Car Racing? You could just ignite a passion for your child if not yourself.  Your family will also enjoy amazing landscapes here.

These are just a few places in Nairobi and close to Nairobi where you can Go Karting. My Favorite Karting Place is Mombasa Go Kart which is a few miles from Heller Park. The best bit of this is that you can always race at night when the breeze is gentle and the sun is resting its fierceness.  Check it out on Come Travel Kenya Limited’s website when we tell you about go-karting in Mombasa. So, when are we getting that adrenaline pumped high in Karting Race? Or should we go bowling?

Here are some commonly asked questions about go-karting

  1. Is Go Karting Safe in Kenya

Yes. The tracks are standardized and the facility owners ensure that the cars are always in good condition.  There are enough safety kits.

  1. Can Children Participate in a Go-Karting Race?

Yes. Most of the Karting Places have provisions for Children and the prices are lower.

  1. Why is Go Karting very expensive?

A lot goes into maintaining the tracks and revamping the racing cars. Racing car parts are also expensive to replace and update.

  1. What is the difference between Go Karting and GP Karting

There is no difference. Initially, the races were referred to as GP Karting. Now they are called Go Karting.

  1. What’s the approximate speed limit for a Kart

50cc Karts can go up to 35Mph.

  1. Can a First Timer Go Karting?

Yes. There are normally strict rules and instructions given before the race. One can learn to race in a short time and take off on their own.

It is not just the gentleness of the people of Taita Taveta, it is the entire beauty of Taita Taveta County. Taita is the home of the famous Tsavo. It is located on the edges of the Kenyan Coast. Taita Taveta is 200 Kilometers Northwest of Mombasa and 360 kilometres Southeast of Nairobi.  This is an opportunity for a road trip of a lifetime from Mombasa or Nairobi.

Here are the topmost spectacular places and things to do when you visit Taita Taveta County:

The Saltlick Lodge is a special highlight in the Taita Taveta Hills Wildlife Sanctuary. The Lodge offers luxury and an exquisite Safari experience.

You are not limited to this sanctuary alone. There are several in Taita Taveta and you may want to check out…

  1. The other intimate sanctuaries like Lumo Community Sanctuary and Ngutuni Wildlife Sanctuaries.

lioness

These are small intimate places that you can visit to get away from the chaos of the world. They are little wild havens, filled with songs of birds, a roar of a lion, purring cheetahs and a distant laugh of the hyena.

The Lumo Community Sanctuary gives you a chance to contribute to conservation and interact with the Taita people in their cultural element. If a vacation to you means doing something meaningful and finding purpose, then Taita Taveta County is your definite destination. Come Travel Kenya Limited will advise on the variety of Sanctuaries and Conservancies that will satisfy your quest.

  1. A Game Drive in Tsavo East or West

tsavo

You can not Tour Tsavo in one day. You will need at least 3 days to cover the vastness of Tsavo East and West. You have probably heard about the historic man-eating Lions of Tsavo. They still exist- just the other day, a driver of a bus was eaten.  Adrenaline Junkies want to come to Tsavo.

The thrill of Tsavo lies in the extreme difference between Tsavo East, which is a huge green Eden and the West which is nearly a desert. You will not believe that you are in the same county. The best Safari Drives should be undertaken very early in the morning or late in the evening for you to spot many animals that come out to enjoy the morning sun or chill in the evening breeze. You will fall in love with the hugging Zebras.

What do you say? Should Come Travel Kenya Limited plan a Tsavo experience for you? If you happen to be an adrenaline junkie, attracted to the paranormal…

  1. You must see the Shetani Lava Flow

The lava flow, which is the largest in Kenya is nothing compared to the mysterious Shetani Caves. Shetani is Devil in Swahili. Don’t go in the caves until you have heard the Taita tales of the caves. The knowledge adds to the mystery of the dark hollowness inside the forever-flowing dry magma that spreads to Chyulu Hills.

  1. And Add on the Yatta Plateau

The Scenery when on the Yatta Plateau is the epitome of Taita Taveta County’s Beauty. It is breathtakingly expansive. The hills beyond the plateau are like green gods watching over the county. And if she or he is not into the black, stony vastness of flowing dry lava,

  1. The crystal Chala Lake

lake chala

It will melt their eyes and hearts. The first time I saw Lake Chala, I wanted to write a romantic story set around it. it is an intoxicating sight, especially for nature enthusiasts. It is a gorgeous crater lake, serene and quiet. Surprisingly, very few people visit Lake Chala. You can enjoy a getaway for days, without being bothered by anyone. Set a lone camp on the shores of Lake Chala and write a book.

  1. The Magical Lake Jipe

lake jipe

Lake Jipe connects Kenya to Tanzania. It is a small lake, approximately 32 kilometres Square, feeding on the Lumi River and the overflow from the Usambara Block Mountains of Tanzania. This is a perfect spot for bird-watching. You will see unique bird species and carry home epic photographs. You can enjoy camping and fishing the endemic fish, for sport. Come Travel Kenya Limited is you to go to Travel Partner.

  1. Envy the Crocodiles swim in Mzima Spring

You have heard of whispering waters? The waters of Mzima Springs not only whisper but beckons for a swim. You cannot dare get it in even if the whispers are alluring unless you want to dinner for the crocodiles.

The best adventure would be a guided trek to the springs. The springs are eruptions of four forming one. This is like an Oasis in the dry Tsavo West. All the Animals of Tsavo West drink here. The hippos are my favourite. Mzima Springs is also home to many unique bird species. Come enjoy this paradise after a long trek through the dry Tsavo West and thereafter…

  1. Watch the Elephants drink at Aruba Dam

Aruba damn

You can never forget this scene for the rest of your life. Imagine an entire herd of elephants bathing in the dam, blowing water from their trumpets and just having a good time. There is always something special about seeing nature unfold before you. The Aruba dam is a beautiful sight when elephants come to drink.

  1. Take a Hike on the Hills and Mountains: Shomoto, Kasigau

It’s time to boot up and go up the hills. Find your sunscreen, hats, sunglasses and a torch just in case you come back after sunset. Taita Taveta is usually sunny and dry. This is a perfect weather for outdoor activities, game drives, nature walks and hikes. Join a group on a hike and you will have a time of your life.

Taita Taveta is a slice of serenity. It is sandwiched between Mombasa and Nairobi, with its major towns being quiet.  the major towns are Mwatate, Wundanyi and Voi. Kajiado County is less than an hour’s drive from Nairobi city on a day when traffic is flowing fluidly.  The mention of Kajiado instantly brings three things to mind: rich indigenous Maasai Culture, barbecue and Ngong Hills.  Kajiado is the home of elephants of Amboseli where you get to see Kilimanjaro from Kenya.

Originally known as Olpurapurana, a place on raised ground, was named Kajiado, O’keju-ado, meaning the long river. The seasonal river runs from the East of Kajiado to the West.

Kajiado is the embodiment of scenic beauty, with a mixture of lush green and dessert aura. The Ma people add to the beauty of Kajiado with their originality and richness in culture. Below are the nine most amazing places and things to do when you go on a Kajiado Safari.

The Karen Blixen Museum

bilxen

Karen is the leafy getaway, an escape from the Buzz of the City. The Blixen Museum is a haven of coffee and serenity. It is home to rich Maasai artefacts and curio items. Generally, the Blixen Museum is not all historic but more artistic and beautiful.

People bring their family and loved ones here to relax and find inspiration. When you need to sneak away from the chaos of Nairobi city then the Karen Blixen Museum is your place to be. But this will not be great until you first visit….

The Amboseli National Park.

wildebeest

Imagine viewing The Kilimanjaro from Kenya. It is a Mysterious sight. Many artists have confessed that the scenery has spoken to the depths of their souls. Art inspired by these scenic views is usually profound – photography, written and drawn.

Amboseli is the home of large herds of elephants. It is expansive, a whole 392 Square Kilometres.  At the mouth of the Amboseli, you will be welcomed by a dry lake, which normally gives the most beautiful mirages. Have you chased a mirage in your life before? Here is a chance for you to try so.

The Amboseli is endowed with a plethora of fauna and flora. Over 200 bird species for bird watchers and the most luxurious camping sites. You will not only enjoy the game drives to sight the big five and the endangered species like the duiker, the rare antelopes, Black rhinos, hippos, wildebeests, and water buffalos.

The luxury lodges will give you world-class accommodation and cuisines, especially the barbecues and game meat.

Not mentioning the Rothschild giraffe of Amboseli is an injustice.  Come feed a giraffe, share a cup of coffee with one and kiss one if you don’t mind. You can send a poster home doing so.

Talking of cuisines, you have not visited Maasai Land, until you taste the traditionally roasted meat at …

Ole Polos Country Lounge

This is a place like no other. If you are looking for a ranch experience, then Ole Polos is your place to be. The barbecues here are my favourite. You will get to roast a goat and enjoy the juicy mutton, dripping from the grills, and soaked in local herbs.

The luxury mixed with culture in Ole Polos will blow your mind. You cannot be described in writing when you contact Come Travel Kenya Limited to plan your Kajiado Safari Itinerary, ask them to add Ole Polos to the plan.

Take a Hike of The Ngong Hills

Do you want a quiet spot where you can sit and get a beautiful view of Nairobi City? Ngong Hills beckons. It is time to boot up and take a hike up the Ngong hill. A family picnic up the hill is usually the best.

You can go for paragliding, ziplining, take a cultural tour meet the people and go on a nature trail. The Ngong is the best place to visit with kids. Carry sandwiches and let them run around in the grass.

Would love to see the extreme opposite of Ngong? Drive to Nyiri Dessert

Nyiri Dessert is hot and dry. You can come here to do self-attachment of sins and soul searching the old way. It’s also referred to as the Nyika or Taru. The Thorny trees are amazing in pictures and you will come across desert elephants, leopards and impalas. Where we have impalas, you will not miss a lion.

Is space and vastness that goes into nothingness your kind of drug? Let us plan a trip to the Nyiri Dessert.

Still on hikes – Ol Doinyo Orok

plateau

This is a 170 km drive from Nairobi, then you boot up to go up the Ol Doinyo Orok. This is a plateau but you have to climb before you get to the satisfying flat area. This a perfect place for Nature walks, bird watching, and game viewing.

The Selenkany Conservancy

This is a community initiative Conservancy. Visiting here is a splash into the depths of Maa Culture, and contributing to the good course of conserving the environment.

The conservancy sits on 15000 acres of land donated by the government to the nomadic people of Kajiado.

Here you will find all kinds of wildlife- elephants, rhinos, cheetahs and leopards. Still on Conservancies…

The Shompole Conservancy

valley

This is a conservancy set between Lake Magadi and Lake Natron. After visiting the Lakes, watching the massive migratory birds and marvelling at the Pink Lakes, you can take a cooling drive into the Shompole Conservancy.

You will enjoy a diverse birdlife, and wildlife, feed the giraffes, and meet the raging buffaloes, elephants and desert antelopes like the orynx and gerenuk.

Olorgesaille

Is for historians. This is a prehistoric site along Magadi Road, 70Kms from Nairobi. Come see the stone tool used by the early man, watch birds and be in touch with the historic origin of man.
